What is POETRY?

Definition: A form of art being made into words, using rhythm, descriptive words and your imagination. Poetry is often used for describing your emotions, your life, your friends, family and your surroundings. Poetry with good rhyming can make it sounds like a song or lullaby!

Example:

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Ice cream is sweet,
And so are you!
But the roses are wilting
The violets are dead
The ice cream's empty
And so is your head!

Why is poetry important in Language Arts?

Because poetry is beautiful and deserves to be appreciated. It's another form of beautiful literature that not only help us improve our imagination, but also to help us recognize music within only words without sounds! Poetry has its own special way to express the author's feelings, by using short verses and beautiful, colorful words to say it. It deserves as much attention as literature throughout the World!
