Definition:
A poem that does not contain a certain rhyme scheme or meter. Does not have to be musical or perfect.
Example:
I have no desire left in my soul
For the fridge is empty in my house
My Mom's not home
So is my food
When will she come back to me?
Why is it important in Language Arts?
Free verse poems allow students to be more open-minded and wide with the amount of their imagination. It doesn't need to be rhyming or correct, which is easier for some people to work with.
