ODES for celebrating!

Definition:

A type of poem that is written to talk to a person or thing or to celebrate a special event.

Example:

It is not growing like a tree
In bulk, doth make man better be;
Or standing long an Oak, three hundred year,
To fall a log at last, dry, bald, and sear.
A Lily of a day
Is fairer far, in May
Although it fall and die that night;
It was the plant and flower of light.
In small proportions we just beauties see;
And in short measure, life may perfect be.

Up there is the Ode to Sir Lucius Gray and Sir H. Morison by Ben Jonson.

Why is it important to Language Arts?

Odes are important for celebrating a special event, such as Christmas and Easter, increasing the fun in poetry, which attracts more people to write odes and increases their imagination.
